History of Mattress Firm Foster Kids

In December 2015, the Ticket to Dream Foundation, a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit, launched its Mattress Firm Foster Kids program across the country to improve the lives of as many foster children as possible.

The U.S. foster care system is home to more than 400,000 children, many of whom have entered the system with few or no possessions of their own. Foster children are often removed from their homes unexpectedly and must leave quickly with nothing but the clothes on their backs, making it necessary to replace essential items fast. These foster children may struggle to get the proper sleep they need when they’re in a new home or an unfamiliar place.

To help, participating Mattress Firm locations hold year-round donation drives. When you donate items like pajamas, bedtime books and toys, you’re providing a foster child the gift of hope for a better future. For children who are away from their families and have been separated from their siblings, these small donations can mean the world.

Giving foster kids favorite sleep-time objects, like pajamas or stuffed animals, can help solidify a bedtime ritual and help kids get a better night’s sleep. Mattress Firm’s mission is to help hundreds of thousands of foster children feel secure in new homes, successful at new schools and confident in the community. Our success depends on you. Together, we can make a difference in these children’s lives, one donation at a time.
